Fulani Herdsmen Kill 47 Mourners in Agatu, Benue State





Fulani herdsmen attacked and killed no fewer than 47 mourners in Agatu local government area of the state, while carrying out the burial rites for two police officers killed last Tuesday in Nasarawa state. These were 2 of the many policemen shot and killed last week in the Lafia crisis.
Vanguard gathered from a reliable source in Agatu that the herdsmen stormed Okpachanyi village on Sunday Morning at the middle of the burial rites and shot sporadically at the mourners, killing their victims at the spot while many escaped with bullet wounds.
This continues a wave of violence that has been seen in Taraba, Borno, Kaduna, Adamawa, Plateau, & Nasarawa States. Some of the violence has been attributed to Boko Haram, while others have local groups and sects the most recent being Ombatse cult in Nasarawa State.
