EP Review: WurlD - Love Is Contagious

''WurlD'' releases his extended play Love Is Contagious on the 22nd of March, 2019 and it consist of nine (9) tracks with some notable singles like; Paranoid, Contagious, Wishes and Butterflies, Show You Off, and Gbemisoke previously released to promote the project. WurlD barely had guest features on this EP with only features from the prolific producer Shizzi and Walshy Fire, so we except to get the best quality and essence of WurlD's creativity from upon the release of his second EP. Lets scheme through the tracklist of this eccentric artist's body of work known as Love Is Contagious.

Show You Off Feat. Walshy Fire and Shizzi: The song Show You Off was produced by super talented producer Shizzi and we also see WurlD feature one member of the Disco Jockey trio Major Lazer who also added a vibrant depth to the track. This record which is heavily influenced by that Afro - soul vibe, with the heavy presence of the bass guitar and the horns gave the record that quality and depth it deserved. Show You Off is definitely a great way to kick start the Love Is Contagious EP.

Contagious: This record is one of the leading records off this project and we see WurlD take us back a bit to that era of juju music which used to be the main stay of our music industry in this part of the world. Contagious is a track which is characterized by the fusion of juju music and that electronic sound and the outcome is total bliss. This is one record i can categories as WurlD's signature sound on a beautifully written free - spirit song. This is by far one of the best records off this EP and it seems to be the title track of this body of work.

Gbemisoke: This is one record that has a very catchy and impressive hook and we also see WurlD display his vocal prowess on the track. Gbemisoke which means (Lift Me Up) in Yoruba language is a very impressive groovy love record that sets you in the mood to dance where ever you are. This is by far one of the solid tracks off this EP and if well promoted can be a huge radio hit.

Paranoid: is a mid-tempo record that has that modern 808s influence with a smooth operator kind of vibe and a baseline of the African drums which added that very depth to the song. Paranoid is one of the previously released tracks off this project that is worth every attention it deserves. This is a solid electronic track with a bit of a dark twist to it and with a theme for confidence in love made it a worthy pick to have made the track list of Love Is Contagious.

Wishes and Butterflies: This is a heavily soulful interlude if i may call it that, because the record is less than 2 minutes but totally musical track. The musical composition of this interlude must be the best effort on this entire project, as the trombone takes center stage with compliments of the glorious harmonies of WurlD backup singers and WurlD's impressive vocals.

Feel Right: This is a solid ballad that can be characterized as a love song with heavily influence of the rhythm and blues elements and that era. WurlD displays his dynamic writing skills on Feel Right and simply makes its one of the most lovable records off the project Love Is Contagious. WurlD throws in different styles and genre of music to this body of work making it all the more interesting to listen.

Candy: This is yet another track that proves WurlD's versatility as a great talent. Candy is that 90's r&b mid - tempo record that captures the bond of two lovers in a beautiful love expression by one partner to the other through the lyrics of the song. The hook of  the record Candy is unforgettable, which achieved the purpose thanks to WurlD's good writing skills and the producer's production. This is the best track (in my opinion) off the EP but for some reason i am not necessarily expecting or excited to see a visual for this record, because i think it is just a feel good song i want to listen to every other day.

Drown: This is an awesome record that was beautifully put together in all ramification, such as; the writing skills, vocal prowess, the melody and harmonies in the record, the hook, the application of sound through the sound production that gave raise to the groovy record dubbed Drown. This is a record if well promoted with a well executed video and other forms of promotion, could be cross over hit for the lad at least a radio favorite.

So Good: This is one feel good track solely based on the acoustic guitar and i must say; would always be perfect introduction track at any live performance sets by performer. So Good has a r&b influences of the 80s/90s giving the record that nostalgic vibe that makes it an instance r&b classic. This is certainly one of the solid tracks of the EP and a great way for WurlD to wrap up the Love Is Contagious extended play.

Here are my final thoughts on this extended play by ''WurlD - Love Is Contagious.'' This is one superb extended play not just because it has a collection of great songs but the EP opened us up to the creativity of his art. From the start to finish every track gave a new element of WurlD's sound and a reason to want to listen to the next record on the EP. Interestingly, the EP had just two rare features and why i call it rare is because the selection of a disco jockey Walshy Fire and a record producer Shizzi is not what an average artist would ordinarily do, instead they would have easily gone for a vocal performance for feature but no WurlD chose  to be different by gunning or the quality of sound and production which he did achieve. Therefore I would like to rate ''Love Is Contagious.'' a 9/10 simply one of the best body of work in have heard in 2019. Recommendation: WurlD need to stay consistent with his sound and concepts and with the good management which i believe he has, we  can only wait for the release of an LP by this wealth of talent.
